Google AdWords can be your best friend (best friends forever, Google!) or your worst enemy (why are you taking all my money, Google? I so poor and you so rich). But hidden amongst the Googleplex as well as amongst Google partners are free coupons, that can at least get you started on AdWords with a little free money. The coupons for AdWords generally come in denominations of $100 or $75 and with just a few tactics, you can get these nifty coupons for yourself or your clients.

Before you begin AdWords, you need to understand what you are getting yourself into! AdWords is all about the money: yours, Google’s, and ultimately about getting clients to pay you for something. So you need to really grasp the AdWords Gotchas: three basic mistakes inside of AdWords that can cost you a lot of money: bad keyword match types, the Display Network (and its nefarious sites), and finally a misinformed understanding of how AdWords can work with SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
Ok, ok, already! Where are the free coupons? Here they are. For each, be sure to follow the instructions closely at the target site. AdWords coupon offers and discounts come and go, so they may not all be active at all time. All were active as of June, 2013! If you know of any others, please let us know.
Here’s an even easier way to get free AdWords coupons: ask Google for them. What did mama say? You don’t ask, son, you don’t get. So simply call up Google at the number below, and say something like, ‘Hey, I heard from a friend that AdWords was really great and that Google would help me set up my account, and by the way that they will give you a $100 credit just to get started. Is that true? Can you help me set up my account and give me a $100 free AdWords credit? Nine times out of ten the Google rep will say, “Yes, you bet. We can do that for you.” Mama was right: you don’t ask, you don’t get! So ask for a free coupon for your Google advertising pleasure!

Here’s the official Google AdWords blog. Pay attention to it, and they will announce special programs. Last Christmas, for example, Google ran a free $300 (yes: THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS) in free advertising program prior to the Holiday shopping season. If that isn’t reason enough to read the official AdWords blog, then what is? Ho, ho, ho!
So those are a good round-up of some ways to get free money from Google, but let’s be realistic here. Google isn’t giving away free AdWords vouchers and coupon codes because they are just wonderfully kind people over there in Mountain View, California. No, not at all. The free Google AdWords coupons are really just Google’s way of ‘try it,’ ‘you’ll like it.’ But there’s a rub. Google doesn’t do a very good job at training people how to use AdWords effectively, and so many people try it, set up their AdWords accounts poorly, and burn through their $100 AdWords coupons in just a few days.
So then they’re bitter and mad. They hate AdWords and they think it stinks as a way to promote their company. But AdWords, my friend, is like alcohol: friends don’t let friends drive drunk, and friends don’t let friends use AdWords (even with free $100 coupons), without really understand how it works.
