Question. I have a internet business only with my customers all over the country with 100’s of 5 star reviews. I just finished listening to your video on the importance of Yelp for rank in Google. Here is my question how do I get someone from Tx or Ca to leave me a review if it is for local people. Will my site come up for them? Thanks (I just claimed my Business On Yelp.)
Answer. Yes and no. Some thoughts / ideas / issues on this one –
Yelp has by far the most aggressive filter. Poke a round a little on Google (and Amazon reviews) and you’ll quickly realize that both of those systems are full of fake reviews. Amazon’s filter in particular is pathetic: many fake reviews stick on Amazon, which is surprising since they could easily require a purchase. But I digress. In your situation, YES try to get reviews YES try to get ones from established reviewers. Remember it’s a quantity game: you might have to “get” five reviews to get one to “stick.”
But as I always say in my online classes: REVIEWS ARE WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD. No, platinum. No, palladium. No, kryptonite.
