Question. Any thoughts on Google Mobile Ads and how to get around them? If I am trying to boost my clients search on google organically, how is this going to effect mobile?
Yikes! As you know, today is “Mobilegeddon,” the day in which Google’s algorithm is changing and “rewarding” sites that are mobile friendly, and penalizing sites that are not. Googlers have said over and over that Google is now a ‘mobile first’ company, meaning that the desktop is becoming the secondary platform to the mobile platform. For anyone who does SEO, that means that the game is getting harder than ever: mobile screens are quite small, and Google advertising is effectively “crowding out” or “crowding down” the organic results on mobile.
Some thoughts –
For local SEO, it’s all about a) know your keywords, b) optimize your website / Google+ listing, and c) get reviews get reviews get reviews. A steady stream of positive customer reviews will drive a business to the top of relevant LOCAL Google mobile searches.
But, yes Virginia, Google is making the mobile SEO game harder than ever because on that teeny tiny screen there is only so much room, and they are clearly rewarding their advertisers over the organic results.
