Is about TLDs I want to create a Tour Operator Website in Costa Rica but I want to bring people from USA and Canada, is ok to buy a .cr domain? or is better to use the commons TLDs like .com or .net
Answer. Really you are in the realm of “local SEO,” and not the traditional local SEO – say, for a dog boarding company in San Francisco – but the realm of showing up at the top of relevant searches that have a local flavor.
Here’s the split –
But you really want to reach people OUTSIDE of Costa Rica – people in, say, the USA or in Germany or wherever looking for touristy things like hotels, tourism, etc. First, do some searches such as ‘Costa Rica Tours’ or ‘Ecosystem in Costa Rica,’ etc., find out the top results. Use a tool like http://www.ipaddresslocation.org to determine where they are hosted. Another trick is to use the Google AdWords preview tool (You must have, and sign into AdWords), and you can reliably vary your location and see what the top results are.
So bottom line, assuming your target market is USA customers –
