Question. Q: If I were going to hire you for SEO, how do you look at a category that your brand new to and estimate how long and/ or how much it will cost to “”try”” to improve my SEO? More intrested how you asses that? is it # of man hours? # of keywords? How do you come up with how many hours it will take? I want to know how do I decide if I want to do it myself or if I want to just hire someone?
Answer. Well, of course, the answer is “it depends.” Beyond just sheer effort, here are factors to consider:

Second, you have to get links / social mentions and blog (freshness). Only the blogging can be done, by yourself, quickly. Getting the links is the #1 important task, but a) it takes time and b) Google has to notice the links AND then re-index your own site.
I often use press release SEO to get Google’s attention, get it to reindex your site. So –
I often guide clients thru the process. It’s a bit like running a marathon, and using a coach to train. Not difficult, not impossible, but it takes time and it is, of course, competitive.
