Q: How does the google + author work with a business– set up the owner as the author even when it’s the staff writing?
Short answer: no. The picture on Google search is a result of Google authorship, and authorship of course can’t exist for a corporation or a business. Only people write articles, and only people have thoughts or opinions (despite the fact that our Supreme Court somehow thinks that corporations are people… but that’s another story.
So a business needs to identify a spokesperson (usually the CEO or founder) and position that person as the “guru” of the knowledge domain in which you are trying to be a thought leader. But logos are not allowed; authorship is only for individuals.
