Q: With EMD changes, can I continue to promote these sites offline with QR codes and print media without hurting or getting blacklisted?
That EMD update of course refers to exact match domains. Domains that contain the target keywords, especially if those target keywords are commercial words such as mortgage, loan, coupon, etc., are under special scrutiny by Google. Generally, this thinking is that send the contents in combination with an EMD domain issue is the problem. An exact match domain website needs to have robust content! And, it needs to have good inbound links.
Now, your question implies that you are doing off-line promotions. Generally speaking, it is a wonderful thing to promote your website with QR codes and print media and face-to-face interactions. All of this brings traffic to the website, and don’t forget traffic to the website also brings with it the opportunity for people to talk about your website on social media as well as link to your website via their blogs. So the real world can support the Internet, and vise versa.
So I would wholeheartedly endorse an active real world promotion of your website, and I would not in the least be worried about the EMD update.
