Q: Is the length of original content important?
Yes, it definitely is. To show up well on relevant Google searches your individual web pages need to be substantial, at least three to four paragraphs, probably about a minimum of 200 words or so. There is no hard and fast rule. It is not only important to have sufficient length, of course, but also to have the TITLE tag of a post or web page contain the target keyword, have at least one image with the ALT attribute defined to be keyword heavy, and to break up the content with not only one H1 tag but perhaps an H2 tag or so.
But, yes, Google clearly rewards “substantial” content.
