Q: Does Google+ allow for company pages?
Q: So you can add a company logo. There are Google+ corporate pages. If you search JM Internet, there is not logo or picture on the Google search page, however if you search for Jason, JM Internet, Jason’s picture shows up for one of the postings. how does this happen?
You have to distinguish between each type of Google+ account and what it offers. First, there is Gooogle+ Profile, which is the PERSONAL set up of Google+. By correctly attaching your Google+ personal profile to a webpage, then you can get your picture to show up on a Google search. This is ONLY available to personal profiles (not company pages). If you go to http://www.jm-seo.org/seo-tutorial/authorship-rich-snippets.html, there is a tutorial there on how to set this up. You have to interlink the Google+ personal account to the webpage for it to work. Your picture does not show all the time; it seems that lately Google has removed this feature from ‘home pages’ and non-blog like pages.
Second, there is Google+ corporate pages. These pages are available to businesses, and must be set up by an individual. These do NOT have the capability of showing a picture of logo on Google search. Because Google+ has been heretofore a pretty weak social network, I recommend setting one up but populating it largely with the same posts you use on Facebook. Third, related to this there is Google+ Local. This is a Google+ page for a local business. If your business is local this is HUGELY important and should be set up correctly, including the process of solicitng reviews.
So, in sum, there are three types of Google+ accounts, and you need to know which one you want, and what you ‘get’ with each one as we explain in our SEO training classes. It’s confusing!
