Would article or reposted blogs be considered duplicate content?
Duplicate content can exist either on your own website or across website. Google seems to handle this problem in different ways depending on the situation. First and foremost it seems that duplicate content on the same website is actually more of a problem. So if you have many pages that are the same or many URLs that actually contains the same content, then you want to indicate to Google using the canonical meta-tag which URL is the authoritative source of the content. In addition if you have many similar pages, which might be considered cookie-cutter then you can be penalized as a manual penalty. This is commonly the situation with many city or state-based pages that are almost exactly alike.
Secondly, you can have duplicate content across websites. In this situation it is quite a bit of trouble for Google to determine which website is the authoritative source. If you are the authoritative source, a best practice is to publish your material first and then after a few days or weeks publish the same content on other sources. In this way you are unlikely to be penalized. The most common problem occurs when you have lots of similar articles linking back to one phrase, and this over optimized link generate a Penguin penalty. In this situation it is not only the duplicate content that is the problem it is the over optimized repetitive link scheme.
So I do think that article or reposted blogs across websites could create some problems for you, especially if they contain link backs to your original website.
