Q: We just started with YouTube Marketing and we realized that we have serious videos about how to or some launch announcement and we have some funny videos but we do not want to mix up the serious ones with the funny ones on the same domain (meaning we link from the home page to the dedicated YT channel but we wanna only to shown the serious ones but not the funny and other ones and we do not want to have a second YT channel.. so what is the best.. subdomain or?
Answer:
You have quite a few issues here. First, in terms of YouTube SEO / YouTube optimization, you can have as many channels as you like. If you like, you can split your ‘funny’ videos into one channel and your ‘serious’ videos into a different channel. Second, YouTube SEO works pretty strongly on the video level, so each video needs a) a keyword-heavy TITLE, b) a keyword-heavy description, and c) lots of user interaction (comments, thumbs up, thumbs down). Most of the SEO on YouTube operates at the video level (not the channel level).
Also, inbound links and external promotion do matter a lot to YouTube. So you want to create some links to your YouTube videos and get video views. MORE views make your video show up better on YouTube; so a ‘virtuous circle’ is more views = more prominence = more views.
As for a subdomain, I am not sure what you are asking here. YouTube is its own animal, so you just need to set that up directly on YouTube. Your own website can (or cannot) have a subdomain; that is a separate issue. Just remember that blog.wholefoods.com is a different website (to Google) than www.wholefoods.com.
