Q. Will you please give me a little more detail on why wordpress.org is better than wordpress.com… one is free and the other is not. Do you have any recommendations for a free blog site?
If you are serious about blogging, your best practice is to use WordPress. It is far and away the No. 1 blogging platform, and has the best ecosystem of plug in’s including SEO plug in’s such as the deservedly famous Yoast.
WordPress.com is a quick and easy solution, but you do not get two important benefits. First, you cannot install and run Google Analytics on WordPress.com, so you can’t get good information on the blog performance. Secondly, your inbound links will send link energy to your blog and not to your primary website. So if you are going to invest in blogging, you want to install WordPress on your own site (or your own domain) and NOT use the free platform. The free platform also has ads.
To get WordPress, you can install it directly from WordPress.org, but unless you are a true computer expert, you’re better off hiring a WordPress consultant, choosing a paid theme, and having them install it directly.
However if you are looking for totally easy, totally low budget, then yes, I do recommend WordPress.com.
