Videos are one of the big, big things on the Internet these days. Everybody loves YouTube, and everyone likes to see informative videos on websites. Check out a personal injury attorney website, and you’ll often see a video. Go to a wedding, and having it video’d is a no-brainer. Have you heard about GoPro? GoPro is one of the biggest successes in recent years: an innovative camera that can record extreme sports activities, and has spawned an entire ecosystem of video aficionados creating and sharing amazing extreme sports videos.
As small business marketers, however, we face a hassle. How do we create high quality videos? Let’s suppose you are a wedding florist, DJ, priest or rabbi, facilities rental or anyone else involved in the wedding industry. Having informative videos on your site is great; having cool videos of real people getting married (and hopefully showing off your flowers, your DJ skills (dancing!), your service, your great facility…) is even better.
How do you create high quality video?
I live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area, and through my connections here and at Stanford, I’ve run into an interesting new startup: VideoTov, a San Francisco Bay Area company focusing on video editing collaboration software. What VideoTov does is pretty unique: you upload your raw video footage, their platform sets you up with a real-world editor, and then you and the real-world editor collaborate via the platform.
The concept is the best of both worlds: a real world editor, and an easy-to-use collaboration platform.
The idea is to let you get back to your real job, your real passion (GoPro kiteboarding, anyone?) while they help you and your editor get it just done. Done! Now that’s a concept in videography that we could all work on: creating great professional videos, that look great and are just done.
