Q: You had mentioned you’d tell us how to get our photo to show up next to our link on the Google search results. Don’t remember seeing that, did I miss it?
Answer. We will cover this topic in the class on social media, specifically Google plus. What’s going on here is if you first establish a Google plus personal account, and secondly cross-linking the Google plus personal account to your website, then Google will generally show your picture on Google search results. This is called authorship.
So here are the steps to getting your picture to show on Google searches in a nutshell:
First, identify a company spokesperson. This only works for real humans! You cannot use a company Google plus page for this, nor can you use a company logo. You must use a real photo of a real person.
Second, set up a Google plus personal profile and populated that profile with target keywords. Third, in the contributor to section of the profile link the profile to the target website.
Third, on the target website link back to the Google plus page that you have just created using the rel=author HTML code. This link must exist on each and every page for which you would like Google to show your picture! Force, you need to be active on Google plus. So start posting, and try to stay on your keyword themes.
Finally, get followers! The more people who circle you on Google plus the more important you are and therefore the more followers you have, the more you show up and you are starting to get the virtuous circle.
