Q: is it important to have different title tags for each page?
Answer. As we learned in class today the title tag is the most important page tags for SEO. First and foremost, you must put your target keyword into the title tag of your homepage. Second, as we learned in the Google Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide, you must create a unique and accurate title tag for each and every page of your website.
Now, your question asked should you have a different title tag on every page?The answer is yes! Your pages should not be duplicates of each other, so therefore each page has unique and different content. And Google is asking you to write a unique and accurate title tag that describes the unique content of each individual page. Now, many of your pages may not differ by a huge amount, but you might have one page on San Antonio in another page on Dallas and so therefore your San Antonio page title tag should say San Antonio and your Dallas page title tag should they Dallas.
Take a look at Amazon. Many of the Amazon pages are very very similar, but each page of Amazon has a unique and accurate title tag. So the first take away is yes, absolutely, each page of your website should have a different and unique title tag.
Now let’s talk for a moment about accuracy. What does Google mean by the accuracy of the title tag? So here is your SEO tip. Make sure that the title tag has the keyword in it and that the keyword is reinforced with keyword heavy content on the page itself. Google looks at the relationship between the title tag and the keyword density of the text on the page, and it looks for reinforcement.
So the bottom line is first right title tags that contain your target keywords. Secondly make each one unique to reflect that each page on your website is unique. And third make sure that each title tag is reinforced with keyword heavy content on the page itself.
For extra credit! Right title tags that are pithy and sexy, so that when a searcher sees these headlines on Google, they get excited and went to click from Google to your website.
