Question: I have seen some articles, recently, about Google emphazing Authority Marketing. Is it real and, if so, where does that fit in with your system?
Answer: I’m not sure what you mean by authority marketing. I think you’re talking about social signals. There are many names for the same thing. I do believe that Google is paying more and more attention to social signals.
What are social signals? For example, does your website have a YouTube channel? Does this YouTube channel have many videos? Do these videos have many views? Does your channel have many subscribers? These are social signals.
Another very important social signal is Google plus. Does your website have authors who have active Google plus accounts? Do they have many followers on Google plus? Are those followers engage with the content? Are those followers actively posting and reposting your contents to Google plus, including using the plus one button? These are social signals.
You are very astute to ask this question. This is definitely where the search engine optimization industry is heading. Towards social signals including authorship.
I have approximately 1700 followers on Google plus which seems like a lot but it’s not as many as people in the search engine optimization industry often hack. But I have many more than people below me. This active community of followers definitely helps me dominate Google searches like the phrase search engine optimization classes.
Welcome to the future!
