Question: What are meta name=”robots”?
Answer: There are many varieties of meta-tags. For search engine optimization purposes, only to meta-tags matter. The first is the title tag which is a meta-tag despite the fact that many people do not technically consider it a meta-tag. As we learned in our class today, for SEO purposes, the title tag is by far the most powerful tag on the page! And it is a meta-tag!
The second meta-tag that is important is the meta-description tag. It influences the snippet description on the Google search results page.
Beyond that there are other meta-tags, and the robots meta-tags especially the no index no follow meta-robots tag is a way to tell Google to exclude a page from Google. So in this sense the robots meta-tag is a negative SEO tag. You can use it to exclude a page from Google.
