Question: What is a way to do a baseline measurement so that after I take you classes I can go back and see the results
Answer: Metrics are very important to search engine optimization. The first step is to define the keywords for which you want to dominate Google. Secondly, before you even make changes to your website, I recommend that you measure your rank on Google searches using tools such as those we discussed today, namely the free rank Checker on Google tool. Third, you can use Google analytics as a baseline measurements to show whether you are getting traffic from Google at the beginning, the types of keywords that are pulling traffic from Google to your website, and whether this traffic is converting to your desired action.
So absolutely positively do baseline measurements before you start your search engine optimization project! The first of these is measuring your rank on Google searches. And the second of these is measuring your inbound Google traffic using Google analytics.
Finally, as I teach in the classes on search engine optimization, you want to feed this information back into your strategy. Learn from what is working, and optimize from that so that your weaknesses become your strengths!
