Question: I blog for my personal career choice (tech comm) on the side. Does linking to my full time work in my bio (which appears with every article I write) help my company’s SEO? What’s the ROI on supporting such efforts of staff members?
Answer: Actually, there is a HUGE opportunity here, and it’s called: Google+. So attach your Google+ personal profile to your blog, and then cross-link to your company website. It’s a bit technical, but if you Google ‘Google Authorship,’ you’ll see Google instructions on how Google+ can be connected to a blog or website.
What this then does is communicate to Google via ‘social signals.’ So you’ll have your personal website, your personal Google+, and your corporate relationship – all intertwined. It’s ‘synergistic’ to use a marketing phrase, and very very valuable.
The web is ‘going social,’ so connecting these is a very good thing. And really where one’s personal life ends and one’s social life begins is murkier and murkier these days!
