Question: I watched your YouTube video recently aobut Google AdWords Keyword Tool. Thank you for that! How do you use the “Competition” information–low, medium, high?
Answer: In terms of AdWords, I do not pay a lot of attention to competition in the Google AdWords keyword in contrast, I pay more attention to the cost per click value. This is because for many highly competitive keywords the tool will indicate that they are all high competition. When you drill down to the cost per click however, you will be able to see which keywords have a higher cost per click and which ones have a relatively lower cost per click.
So looking at the cost per click data is another way of grasping the competition, and it is a more nuanced view of the true competition.
So in sum, I do not pay a lot of attention to the competition notation in the keyword tool.
