Question: If it is 80 characters why do you say 69 characters only?
Question: Are there any limit on the number of characters used in meta tag?
Answer: The title tag is the most powerful tag for search engine optimization purposes. Here’s where it gets a little confusing. The character limit that is visible on Google search engine results page is about 69 characters. However, I have done experiments that prove that Google indexes beyond the 69 visible characters to about 80 characters.
So this is why I sometimes waffle between the two character counts for a good title tag the first 69 characters are clearly the most important, and therefore place your keywords to the left of the tag. However 69 characters is not very many so feel free to use up to 80 characters; just remember that everything after 69 will not be visible to people when they’re searching Google!
Beyond 80 characters probably has very little impact on search engine optimization.
