Question: I had asked a question yesterday that wasn’t answered (or perhaps I missed the email?) I have another website: Www.~.com where we have a blog, and I wanted to know if we should keep it or add the content regularly to our regular site/blog www.~.com C
Answer: There is no straightforward solution to this question. Some SEO experts, myself included, believe that it is better to have your blog hosted on the same domain as your primary website. The theory here is that inbound links to your blog content will bolster the pagerank of your entire domain, and this domain web authority will filter down to all of the content of your website. This theory advocates a strong blog on a strong domain, in a unified fashion. It is my opinion.
As indicated in your question, other people believe that having a strong blog on one domain and a strong website on a different domain, allows for cross-linking and therefore better link building. The problem with this approach is you usually end up with one website that is pretty dormant, that does not have a lot of fresh content! So that’s why I do not like this approach.
As long as you cross-linking the blog and the website, however, pretty much you can work with either solution. The main saying, as your advertising agency seem to understand is to generate fresh content on a regular basis! So rather than getting lost in the technicalities, just make sure to get a lot of new content up on the Internet!
