Question: what’s the diference btween meta description and meta keywords?
Answer: META DESCRIPTION is incredibly important. LESS THAN 150 characters. Make sure you have your KEYWORD in the META DESCRIPTION and write it PITHY EXCITING, some ‘sex appeal’ to GET THE CLICK. VERY important!
The META DESCRIPTION does NOT impact WHETHER you show on a Google results page, but if you write it well (include keywords, avoid comma comma comma), you can get it to show 90% of the time, and it will help you get the click. So I consider it the No. 2 tag after the TITLE tag.
Now, the META KEYWORDS tag. It’s IGNORED by Google and Bing! Officially they have even said as much. So it does NOT help and does NOT hurt. It does zero, zilch, nada for SEO. So I use it just as a ‘note to myself,’ what is this page targeting?
The worst thing is that many of your software packages like WordPress have the META KEWYORDS tag in them, and people mistakenly believe that putting keywords there DOES SOMETHING. So it is very misleading!
