Question: In Google AdWords keyword tool why does a keyword search for magnetic bracelets show 2 separate entries with different local monthly searches and CPC magnetic arthritis bracelets “magnetic arthritis bracelets” do I need to use the keyword with and w
Answer: In the Google AdWords keyword tool, there are different ways of ‘asking’ Google for search ideas, volumes, and values (as measured by CPC)-
[SEO Training] = exact match = THESE words ONLY typed into Google
“SEO Training” = phrase match = This PHRASE plus words BEFORE or AFTER. Also gives ideas of related words (in the tool). I find this the MOST USEFUL way to use the tool.
SEO Training (no brackets or phrases) = BROAD match = Google think for me = most useful when you are really just beginning keyword research, unfamiliar. Also if you UNCHECK the box that says ‘Only show ideas closely related to my search terms’ – you are really very very broad. So I like to CHECK this box and use PHRASE match. That tends to give the most useful data.
Beyond the SEO class, I have a YouTube video, How to Use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool (External) for SEO , that explains how to use the tool in more detail.
Finally, realize that these ways of inputting the data… is reflective of how AdWords treats keyword matching inside of the AdWords software (which I teach in my AdWords class).
