Question: HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE KEYWORDS IE: ADDING VALENTINES DAY
Question: HOW MANY KEYWORDS SHOULD YOU HAVE?
Answer: Actually, for most businesses, the target keywords do NOT change very much. For Rongordonwatches.com, for example, his target keywords – watch repair, watch repair NYC, Breitling Repair NYC, vintage zodiac watches – these are STABLE over time. Even a flower shop, can ‘predict’ that people will search for valentine’s day flowers, mother’s day flowers, etc.
So your keyword targets actually do NOT change very frequently.
Now, down to your pages. Usually you end up with some pretty stable ‘landing pages’ that are keyword focused… and you ‘change up’ your blog posts, press releases, and otherwise mix and match NEW content around these stable pages. So don’t think of it as the keywords changing but as the content being constantly freshened up.
In terms of question #2, most businesses have just a few target keyword families – perhaps 3-10. An individual page, outside of the home page, generally will do best in terms of SEO if it targets a very focused keyword family. We saw this on Progressive.com as how many of its pages are LASER FOCUSED on specific targets. So FOCUS is very very important for successful SEO.
