Question: Are you going to expain further KW density percentages, and how to optimize?
Question: Does “Local Monthly Searches” mean USA, or my local city?
Question: What Keyword Density % do we want for our Primary KW’s? Q
Answer: Question 1. Keyword density. Yes we will discuss more tomorrow in the SEO class on Page Tags, keyword density is not just about the numeric value… You can’t just put ‘motorcycle, motorcycle insurance, motorcycle insurance rates,’ comma comma comma – Google is hip to that, and penalizes sites that do not use natural syntax. Take a look at geico.com, which has very good landing pages and you’ll see density in the 7% range but more important subject / verb / predicate.
Question 2. On the Google AdWords Keywords Tool, yes – LOCAL is not NYC / San Francisco, London metro… but rather COUNTRY. Google just doesn’t name it very well.
Question 3. When using the Keywords Tool, you can set it to BROAD at the very beginning when you are getting ideas, but I like to narrow it down to ‘phrase’ and check the box ‘only use keywords from ‘Only show ideas closely related to my search terms’ – otherwsie you get too much information. I have a video on YouTube on using the keyword tool, which re-emphasizes much of what we learned in class today, at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63HP79OjJp8.
