Question: We are a nation wide broker for health insurance. How do we configure our landing page to access multiple cities with local searches?
Answer: IF your customers user geographics, you can definitely optimize for them. We do this in spades. Our SEO classes are taught online, but many of our customers search by city. So we create specific landing pages on keywords like ‘Boston SEO Classes’ or ‘SEO Training Miami,’ you can find all of those at the bottom of our home page – http://www.jm-seo.net
Another good site that does this is http://www.stamfordlinen.com/ – also look at the bottom and you’ll see localized SEO pages.
The trick is to make them cookie cutter YET have unique content. I usually pull some historical or other paragraphs about each city and WORD merge / mix them up so that each landing page is UNIQUE yet laser focused on a specific city.
So, yes, even if you are national, if your customers search LOCAL you can optimize and reach out to them. It just depends on the logistics of your keywords (hence research those keywords in detail!).
