Question: Some CPCs are expensive but the monthly source is extremely low. Is it still a valuable keyword? How do you find a good balance
Answer: There is a trade off between VOLUME and VALUE in keywords. You are looking for WINNABLE keywords that reflect a good match between what you SELL and what customers WANT. The trick is to think of keywords in three dimensions –
First, volume. What do people search? Second, value. What keywords represent people with money… or people who are close to a decision / engagement / purchase? And third, what keywords are WINNABLE. You have to choose battles you can win, and it is easier to win the long tail, focused keywords vs. the short tails.
We are not on the page for SEO for example, but we are there for SEO TRAINING DALLAS and just for SEO TRAINING. You want to identify winnable, important keywords and over time work your way up the tail – from the long tail to the medium tail.
