Question: You said you don’t need alt attribute for all pictures but does it help?
Answer: There is a little confusion in this group with respect to this. The ALT attribute is VERY important for SEO. You want as least ONE image per page and put keywords in the ALT attribute of that image. The TITLE attribute, however, is NOT very important.
So, yes images help with SEO but only in the sense of the ALT attribute.
