Question: In regard to Google key word tool and key word spy, how often are the search volumes updated?
Answer: I wish I knew. I do know that ‘Google Suggest’ – the pull downs that you see as you type are updated very very rapidly, so I often use that for blogging and keyword ideas. The Google Keyword tool doesn’t tell us how rapidly they update it.
The problem, of course, is that Google has a near monopoly on this data. So they don’t share much, and you have to expect that institutional laziness means that the tool lags behind reality. If you look at trending searches, you’ll see a huge lag. So that makes me think – monthly? Quarterly? Yearly? No one really knows.
