Question: My website is a self-hosted WordPress site. What’s your opinion on WordPress SEO plugins?
Answer: WordPress is fantastic for SEO IF you use a good plug in. I like SEO ALL IN ONE FOR WordPress, but YOAST is also very popular. Right out of the box, WordPress is NOT particularly good at SEO, so a plug in is essential.
Pay special attention to how your WordPress renders the TITLE tags of pages, META DESCRIPTIONS, and the USE of H1 / H2 tags. Those are common issues in WordPress. Then, make sure to build good keyword heavy URL’s (not the default in WordPress) and also make a good tag cloud of interrelated blog posts based on keywords.
If you do all that, WordPress can be really really fantastic for SEO.
