Question: Could you provide a sense of how much time a week a company/person needs to spend on SEO to do a good job?
Answer: First of all, to get your SEO in gear, generally a small website needs 20-40 hours to ‘get it up to speed’ in terms of SEO best practices. Then, after that, just a few hours per week – a couple blogging, a few press releases and ALWAYS looking for inbound link opportunities will make a big difference.
So think of it as first TRANSFORMATION / getting your site up to gear and then MAINTENANCE – blogging, press releases, new content, and looking for link opportunities as well as some metrics thrown in. 3-5 hours per week is generally enough for maintenance if you know what you are doing, and have the basics already in place.
