Question: We are in a content management website where pages are limited so we can not create a page per press release. we have a news page where I can paste a “read more” link to a PRlog release. any better ideas?
Answer: The perfect is the enemy of the good (Voltaire). In the class on SEO / press releases, I explained the perfect: each press release targeting a specific keyword / phrase, each SEO optimized with good tag structure, each on a gateway page, and each with ‘one click’ from the home page.
That said, if your CMS doesn’t allow this, make it work as best you can. We will get to rank measurement… and if you can rank WITHOUT doing it perfectly, you win. If that works, you’re good. If it isn’t working, you’ll need to circle back to your CMS vendor and give them a good kick in the pants, and get them to do it the RIGHT WAY. It just all depends.
