Answer: If pages are not to be promoted, either delete them, remove them from the site, or use the robots.txt file to exclude them. You can also use the NOINDEX tag – globally put this phrase –
<META NAME=”ROBOTS” CONTENT=”NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW”>
In the META tag / HEAD location of ALL pages, that will pretty quickly remove those pages from Google.
This doesn’t hurt your SEO in a general sense. You want your website to FOCUS so cluttering it up with junk, abandoned products, etc., isn’t very good. FOCUS is a better strategy – FOCUS on keywords that really are what your customers search for. Nigerian proverb: Man who goes after two mice, catches none.
