Question: I have a client who has just bought Facebook likes, Youtube views, and Twitter followers. I have cautioned him against it but he did it anyways.
My question is, what are your views, cautions, suggestions when it comes to buying social media traffic.
Answer: LOL. Some day in the future only losers will pay for… wait for it… friends. Likes, views.
Do they really think that, over time, Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, whoever are not going to become aware of this? So my advice is to NOT do it, if for no other reason than how totally sad and pathetic it is.
But, on the other hand, you might buy some friends or followers so others THINK you are cool and then join the bandwagon. A little of this to jump start a Facebook page might be OK. But it violates all terms of services and runs the risk of getting them banned.
More importantly, than just being pathetic, why don’t they focus on strategies to get REAL followers? Like providing REAL content that people REALLY care about? That would be addressing the problem than just pretending it doesn’t exist.
