Question: You talk about “getting the big fish” but I’ve heard that if you can’t get to the top in the top keywords, try to get to the top of Google returns with more niche searches. What do you think of that strategy?
Answer: Competition is HUGELY important to successful SEO. How? First, short tail keywords are very difficult in most industries, so I recommend you focus on medium or long tail keywords. It is easier to ‘win’ on those keywords. Second, riches are in the niches. If you can identify niche keywords – you can not only easily dominate on those keywords, you can also get a tighter connection to your customers.
So in terms of your strategy, yes I totally agree. NICHES are very valuable. Hence, in terms of our strategy, we strive to dominate not SEO but SEO TRAINING, SEO CLASSES, and SEO COURSES. (And we pretty much do).
