Question: Our site needs to be on different platforms – desktop, MAC, PC, Firefox, Internet Explorer, mobile, tables – yeee gads! What is this ‘responsive site design’ and can it help?
Answer: Welcome to the MOBILE REVOLUTION!!!! Google estimates that more than 20% of all search is now MOBILE. So then there’s a new issue: Screen size. Small screens predominate on mobile, and tablets are betwixt and between PC’s and MAC’s. So responsive site design has to do with making the website adapt instantly to whatever browser / device is hitting it.
For SEO it has implications and helps with the issue of DUPLICATE content. Google gets ticked at duplicate content, which can be a problem when you have a m. site (a mobile site). So it doesn’t know which site is the most important site, and gets confused. Responsive site design / responsive website design helps tremendously with this duplicate content issue.
