Question: For Google Analytics – Do we have to enter code into our website first before we get info from Google Analytics?
Answer: To sign up for Google Analytics, just go to http://www.google.com/analytics. Then you get some Javascript code that you have to put on ALL pages of your website. Once you have done that, you are set – it starts pulling data, and you can use it to learn how people use your website.
So, yes, you have to DO something to get Google Analytics data which is PUT the javascript on your website. It’s pretty simple to do. Google Analytics IQ lessons at http://www.google.com/intl/en/analytics/iq.html?&rd=1 has a TON of useful information on Google Analytics, including the all-important how to install the Javascript tracking code. My class on Google Analytics is more of an introduction and a marketing angle- not just how to use it, technically, but WHAT do we want to know.
