Question: I am a writer, so what is the best way to use my website to sell my books?
Answer: I am a writer, too, so keenly interested in book promotions. First of all, NON-FICTION books can be promoted through SEO. Understand the PROBLEMS people are searching for, and optimize for those keywords on your Website, as well as on the Amazon search engine. There are lots of SEO tricks for non-fiction books. Also, use reviews – the more reviews a book gets, the more it shows up well on Amazon.
For fiction it is much more complicated and difficult. People do not ‘search’ for fiction books, the way that they do for many non-fiction books… especially ‘how to’ and ‘self-help.’ So for fiction books, a lot of book marketing becomes a) social media (getting eWOM (electronic word of mouth), and b) having a ‘ladder’ building up from free stuff to paid stuff. I am working on a lot of this myself, so feel free to reach out to me to share ideas; I am especially interested if you are non-fiction.
