Question: What are your thoughts on Google + merging with Google Places.
Answer: I have not heard anything to this effect, and I doubt it is very likely. Google+ is a social networking site similar to Facebook; the focus is on individuals “sharing” content and experiences on any topic. Google Places is all about local search. So from a company perspective, I can’t see the two merging.
From an individual perspective, I could see Google merging an individuals’ Google+ profile with his or her Google Places reviews. It does seem rather dumb that you can’t see my Google Places reviews directly from my Google+ profile page. But I doubt that a merger would have a great influence on the marketing use of either Google+ or Google Places.
