Question: On retail website, ie I have 30,000+ products, do I need to go through each individual products page to insert the key words?
Answer: Ideally, yes. Google rewards unique content even on e-commerce sites. Every page should have a unique TITLE tag, unique META DESCRIPTION and some unique content. That doesn’t mean you can’t have highly similar pages; you can have 90% of the same content, just as you might on a lightbulb site with different part numbers, that sort of thing.
If possible, when you build the product database to HTML output you would optimize each individual page. Look at how Amazon.com does this. Zillions of products; zillions of unique pages, and fantastic SEO vs. Google.
