Question: How important is it to have a Google Places listing if you are a B2B organization that does NOT do business locally?
Answer: It all depends on your customers. If you have local stores, then definitely. For instance, Home Depot should claim ALL its local listings, as people do look for local hardware stores. If your search keywords do NOT have a local character, then don’t worry about it.
In my SEO classes, I always tell students to do an SEO INVENTORY of their keywords and see if Google Places is showing on keyword searches that matter to them. If so, then you need to worry about Google Places. If not, not. It always depends on how people search!
