Question: For syndication, will duplicate content affect the results?
Answer: Duplicate content is a very interesting issue. I see this come up again and again, and yet in my experience Google is very poor at weeding out duplicate content. That said, what I recommend is following a sequence in doing your news, at least at first. FIRST, put the news release up on your OWN website. That gives it a ‘head start’ that it is the origin of the news. If you are generally indexed by Google, you might even wait until Google picks it up.
Second, syndicate it on one of the major sites like pitchengine.com. If you want, you can ‘spin’ it. That is, re-word some of the content so that it is different from the news on your own site. Third, reach out to bloggers and other humans to see if they will write about your news.
Again, however, in my experience Google is not that great at punishing your for duplicate content ACROSS websites. Where you do get some issues is duplicate content on your own website; so make sure that each news release lives in one, and only one, URL on your own domain.
