Question: One question I had in regards to our site ..we have it created in Joomla and do have several in Joomla. We are also looking at using WordPress now for our clients. I know how I use to put in the keywords, descriptions etc. They have a place to add those things in Joomla but is it doing the same thing? Is there anything I need to know about using these CMS sites.
Answer: Both platforms can be SEO friendly. I am more familiar with using WordPress for SEO. For WordPress look for the all-in-one-SEO platform or Yoast. I am sure that there are equivalents for Joomla. Finally, remember, that Google doesn’t care HOW you build your HTML / website. It just looks at the HTML output. Whether that was produced in Joomla or WordPress or by hand is not important.
So then, reverse that. You can take the outputted HTML and compare to the best practices I teach in the page tags class and ask IF the output measures up. If not, go back to the platform (Joomla, WordPress) and tweak it so that the output that comes out is indeed SEO-friendly.
