Question: What types of credentials should SEO/Social Media consultants have to succeed? And how do they market themselves as credible consultants?
Answer: We offer certification for those who pass our exams – this is new, as of November. But beyond paper certification, what is more important is having a track record. So try to get some clients, or volunteer to run a non-profit website. SEO is very results oriented! In addition, I always try to explain to our own SEO consulting clients and students taking our SEO training classes, that you can MEASURE results through platforms like Google Analytics IF you set it up right in the beginning. It is a very measurable industry.
So if I work with a client, I might start simple / small project. Measure its success. Then move on to a bigger project.
