Question: Our broad SM strategy is to add value first and after that promote products with less than 1/10 of our content. Our first step on Google+ is to connect with as many of our 100 suppliers as possible — your thoughts on this?
Answer: I agree that, at a company level, the basic strategy on Google+ is like on Facebook. Find an audience, share things that they care about and very, very infrequently share self-promotional messages. You need to contribute FIRST and then a very soft sell SECOND.
However, I think that Google+ is gaining traction on an individual / guru level first and only secondarily at a company level. So, in that sense, don’t miss out on the individual / guru opportunties on Google+.
