Question: My website is the product/service that I’m selling – it’s a blog/web magazine. The “customers” I want are readers – the more readers I have, the more ad revenue I’ll make. Should I be tailoring the keywords for every blog post I write?
Answer: Blogging is absolutely wonderful for SEO, and YES YES YES you have to optimize your blog posts for the keywords that people are searching for. For blogging, be sure to follow trends. Try to ‘catch the wave’ of new trends, and blog QUICKLY on those new trends / new terms. Google will reward you in spades for being one of the first blog posts to talk about trend.
Secondly, before you even write a blog post, do keyword research for SEO using the keyword tools we have in the toolbook. You want to blog on high volume / high value keywords. For SEO, there is not point on blogging on terms that people don’t search for, or on missing opportunities. So, yes, keywords should drive your SEO blogging!
