Question: How many keywords should be included in the meta tag?
Answer: There are THREE meta tags. The TITLE tag – 66 characters visible on Google, about 80 character indexed. The META DESCRIPTION tag – 155 characters visible on Google, and the META KEYWORDS tag – ignored by Google entirely.
As you work on your pages be sure to place your target keywords in your TITLE and META DESCRIPTION tags. That is very, very important as we will see in the class on page tags. Be sure EVERY page has a UNIQUE and ACCURATE TITLE tag and META DESCRIPTION tag that has your keywords in it, and is re-inforced by keyword heavy content on the page itself. Geico.com is a great example.
