Question: How does syndicating your news interact with Google’s dislike for duplicate content and not always creditting the original creator?
Answer: That’s an interesting question. In my experience, Google doesn’t do nearly as good a job on duplicate content penalties as it claims or as SEO folks worry. My strategy is thus a) release the news release on your own website FIRST or at least SIMULTANEOUSLY with syndication, then b) syndicate. That gives you at least a day or so head start on other blogs, portals, etc., that might run your news.
In my experience, then, Google will often pick up the syndication site and your site FIRST and you will dominate the keyword searches. Syndication and duplication are just facts of life; Google has to learn to live with them, so I actually think that all its complaining about the issue indicates it is a huge problem for them (and not so much for us). Score one for the small guy!
