Question: We are looking at purchasing software that would include the ecommerce piece. Is there a way to confirm their typical website performance before we make a big purchase that would tie us to a particular company which ends up being extremely slow?
Answer: Basically, any good e-commerce platform should follow the on page SEO best practices. That is the main thing. You also want it to generate keyword heavy URLs. I do not have a great knowledge of which platforms are better; but you can certainly follow the best practice principles I teach on Page Tags and look at an e-commerce site. Ultimately that is what matters to Google in this area: Are there keywords? Are they embedded in the right tags? Is there keyword-heavy content on the page?
